This donkey has more mud on him after a grooming session than before we started 😂

As it is such a lovely day today, I decided to give the boys something different. 

Around an area in their paddock I sprinkled Paprika, Parsley, Rosemary, Thyme and Oregano. They instantly know it’s something different and it is really stimulating for them. 

I think they like it! Thank you to #TheDonkeySanctuary for the continuous support and inspiration you offer your guardians 🐴🐴💖. 

Our 2 boys didn’t set hoof outside their stable yesterday, not even to greet their food !!! 

They certainly knew where they were best off while “Storm Doris” passed.

Not sure what the weather has been like where you are, but it has been pretty chilly here most mornings, well below freezing !❄️ 

With that in mind and knowing how much we enjoy our porridge in the mornings, we have also been giving our donkeys a porridge of sorts. 

They have their portion of High fibre nuts soaked in warm water. As soon as they see the kettle coming into their field they know it won’t be long before they have something warm in their tummy. 

For these desert dwelling animals I think they have come to enjoy our frosty starts to the day ….

So Little Lad really enjoys a grooming session and almost goes into a semi sleepy state the more time you spend preening him. But then as soon as he is set free and whilst you are in view he does this ……

maybe he does it so you will groom more often …. hadn’t thought of that. #wrappedaroundtheirhooves 😂 

If ever Polos and carrots became ” contraband” in this country then these two could take up the post of “Sniffer Donkeys” without any prior training lol 😂 !!!

The progress of our two adorable donkeys, George and Little Lad and us for that matter, is hard to put into words. 

This time last year no matter how we tried we couldn’t get near Little Lad. It was his first winter with us and possibly he was feeling a little unsure about his surroundings and his new guardians. He was rescued in the winter from an appallingly situation, so who knows how that had affected him. 

Now he and sweet George won’t leave us alone. They’ve taken to licking Khush on occasions and both get very excited when they hear us coming. 

The trust and love that we feel now is unimaginable.
